iPhone 8 release date, specs, rumors: New Apple Phone to Come With Glass Body and Mirror Finish
According to recent iPhone news, the California tech giant Apple has finalized the designs for their upcoming flagship smartphone, the iPhone 8. Since 2017 marks the 10th year anniversary of the iPhone, Apple is speculated to prepare a major celebration launch for the iPhone 8.
Because of so, plenty of rumors regarding the iPhone 8’s design and specs have surfaced across the internet. One of which states that the new iPhone 8 will be made with a glass body just like that of the iPhone 4, but this time with a mirror-like finish.
The iPhone 8 is also rumored to come in 4 different colors, all with a glass body exterior. Moreover, speaking of exteriors, Benjamin Geskin, former designer turned mobile phone leaker, speculates that Apple will feature a Touch ID home button placed at the backside of the phone.
Other rumors about the iPhone 8 foretell of a radical redesign where Apple will include an edge-to-edge display that will completely reduce both the top and bottom bezels that houses the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and the front-facing camera. If such as display was to be integrated with the iPhone 8, rumors suggest that the Touch ID may be built right into the display or will be eliminated and replaced with facial recognition technology instead.
As for the display the iPhone 8 is said to possess a flexible plastic OLED display rather than an LCD. The new flexible material for the display is said to be used by Apple to attain a slightly curved screen for the iPhone 8.
Other rumors about the iPhone 8 suggests that it will also possess a water resistant body just like the iPhone 7. The new iPhone 8 will be able to withstand water splashes, rain, and brief submersion in water.
When it comes to the smartphone’s innards, the iPhone 8 is speculated to possess a 10-nanometer A11 chip that will make the phone faster and more efficient. Other speculations on the iPhone 8 suggest that the phone will also possess an induction-based wireless charging feature.
The iPhone 8’s camera is also expected to experience a significant upgrade, namely a dual-camera setup where both lenses are expected to come with optical image stabilization. It is also expected of the iPhone 8 to sport a front-facing camera that includes advanced 3D sensing technology by PrimeSense.
As of now, there is still no official word from Apple about the iPhone 8’s official specifications and date of release. For now, the only fact that iPhone 8 fans can hold onto is the fact that the iPhone 8 will be released within the year of 2017.
